Nogales Art and Culture Partners
A vibrant arts and cultural district such as Morley in Nogales is not a self-sustaining entity. In fact, it relies on the steadfast dedication and collaboration of various Nogales art and culture partners who share a common vision.
Twelve Nonprofits Carry Out Creative Placemaking.
At the heart of the Morley Arts District (MAD) are twelve nonprofit organizations that infuse culture into downtown Nogales’ streets and advocate for the artistic community. As a matter of fact, these MAD Nogales art and culture partners are driving creativity and collaboration in the region using a process called creative placemaking.
Each organization brings a unique perspective and set of skills to the Nogales arts and cultural district; For example, Nogales art and culture partners play different but equally vital roles in making MAD the cultural hub it is today. Some partners host concerts, exhibits, and classes while others produce multimedia art productions and promote the region.


Border Community Alliance
Border Community Alliance is a nonprofit organization based in Tubac, AZ whose mission is to bridge the border and create cross-border community through education, cultural exchange, and social Investment. We accomplish our mission through a variety of programming in the US and Mexico. Activities Include tours, educational forums and events, Spanish language classes, and an internship program. Border Community Alliance hosts arts and cultural tours in Santa Cruz County as part of the Morley Arts District. Border Community Alliance is one of Nogales art and culture partners.
Border Youth Tennis Exchange (BYTE)
Border Youth Tennis Exchange (BYTE) is a binational youth development organization that provides athletic and tech-based academic Instruction to children on both sides of the US/Mexico border. BYTE Instructors frame collaborative, cross-border projects through the lens of social justice. Each BYTE student athlete is developed as an international grassroots ambassador. In this way, we support sports based diplomacy, resilient cross-border communities and positive appreciation for the border region. In addition, BYTE provides youth art classes in the Morley District and at locations around Santa Cruz County.
Cultural Arts Committee of Nogales Arizona
Cultural Arts Committee of Nogales Arizona is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural events. Specifically, we promote four festivals during the year, sharing videos, images and descriptions of work to the arts district website-provided by the committee. Cultural Arts Committee of Nogales Arizona is one of Nogales art and culture partners.
Mat Bevel Company
Mat Bevel Company is an arts and science nonprofit that sparks the creative genius in people of all ages. We create original art using found object kinetic art, science-art theater productions, hands-on discovery learning and multimedia productions. In fact, our dispel the common myth that creative genius is a talent only few possess. Through our programs, people discover new ways to use their imaginations to solve problems, generate original ideas, create inspiring art and Invent things. In this way, we are improving lives, communities and the world through our programs. Mat Bevel Company is providing regional stakeholder capacity building, strategic planning, marketing, and multimedia services to help build a creative economic sector through the Morley Arts District.

Pimeria Alta Museum
Pimeria Alta Museum is housed in the Old Nogales City Hall which was constructed in 1914. The museum provides Information on the history of the Pimeria Alta and, in addition, welcomes visitors to the border area historical collection. As part of establishing the Morley Arts District, Pimeria Alta Historical Society (PAHS) helps develop a Mural/History Tour. Pimeria Alta Museum is one of Nogales art and culture partners.
Nogales Community Development (NCD)
Nogales Community Development (NCD) builds thriving communities in Nogales and Santa Cruz County-one business, one person at a time. NCD manages projects for commercial revitalization, business support for entrepreneurs, asset development for Individuals and affordable housing for families and individuals. As part of the Morley Arts District, NCD manages the community kitchen on Morley Avenue. Another key point, the kitchen brings experienced chefs, food entrepreneurs and novice cooks to share ideas, new techniques and good food, thereby enriching Nogales’s flavorful culinary traditions. The food business Incubator at the community kitchen trains people to become more financially independent through a fulfilling career in the culinary arts.

Santa Cruz Advocates for the Arts
Santa Cruz Advocates for the Arts improves the quality of life for the people of Santa Cruz County in Arizona. Our activities provide life-long learning in the arts for all people engaged in our programs. SCAA built and manages the Charles Mingus Memorial Park at 10 W. Western Ave. Each year we sponsor “The Mingus Hometown Jazz Festival,” a day of jazz music by professional musicians and local high school jazz bands. In addition, each year we host a day of jazz workshops and performances for youth in the county. As part of the Morley Arts District, Santa Cruz Advocates for the Arts renovated the former Las Dos Naciones Cigar Factory building on Morley Avenue to create the Wittner Museum and Performance Space. The new venue features paintings by Paula Wittner and host musical performances and community events.

Santa Cruz County Public Media serves as a vital participant in the public conversation, acting as a key component of our community, and leading innovation within public media. To achieve our mission, we strive to amplify the public conversation by telling stories that truly matter. We share stories that provoke thought, entertain, capture emotions, and inspire action. This is how we serve as a cornerstone of the public conversation and remain a central pillar of our community. Additionally, we continue to innovate and push boundaries within public media, reasserting ourselves as the heart of innovation.
